DEAR FRIENDS OF OSF HEALTHCARE |
Our annual report for fiscal year 2007 reflects some of the many accomplishments and achievements our employees, volunteers and medical staffs have accomplished each day as they live our Mission “…to serve persons with the greatest care and love in a community that celebrates the Gift of Life.” It is amazing but not surprising how God has blessed us with such talented and dedicated clinicians and individuals who support them throughout OSF. I recognize our wonderful progress in becoming a Community of Caregivers, and that gives me great joy!
Our two colleges of nursing have greatly expanded their capacity to accommodate new students by successfully recruiting additional, well-qualified faculty. In the past three years, enrollments of undergraduate and graduate
students in nursing at both of our Peoria and Rockford campuses have nearly doubled. In addition, we have waiting lists of those seeking entrance into the nursing profession.
As you enjoy our report you will see that
the Milestone Project in Peoria is the largest
construction endeavor ever undertaken within OSF HealthCare. All
of us involved in planning the consolidation of the many services of
Children’s Hospital of Illinois into one facility along with the expansion
of many critical patient care services of OSF Saint Francis Medical Center
were thrilled to participate in the historic groundbreaking in July 2007.
Additionally, there is a comparable amount of new construction projects
in different phases occurring throughout our system.
We are very pleased to have a new addition to OSF Healthcare System –
OSF Holy Family Medical Center. Their roots as Community Medical Center
of Western Illinois, Inc. go back to 1897. Now it is a multi-faceted medical
complex in Monmouth, Illinois, that includes a critical access hospital, a
physicians’ clinic and an extended care facility. In a memo to their
employees, volunteers and medical staff, Mr. Donald Brown, Administrator,
noted: “The CMC Board believes that OSF has the size, strength, and expertise
to address the complexities of modern healthcare, to provide CMC with access
to capital, and to assist CMC in responding to the pressures of current and
future government and insurance reimbursement policies. Our Board believes
the OSF Mission and CMC’s Mission are very compatible.”
We thank all who have supported us in our Mission and in our efforts, and we
thank God for each and every one of you. Enjoy reviewing this year’s report.
Pax et Bonum,
Sister Judith Ann Duvall, O.S.F.
