COMMON URGENT CARE QUESTIONS

Is OSF OnCall Urgent Care part of a larger health care system?

Yes, it is part of OSF HealthCare, a faith-based health care system with 15 hospitals serving Illinois and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

Since 1877, OSF has kept its Mission strong – to serve people with the greatest care and love.

With over 150 primary care and specialist offices and neuroscience, pediatric, cardiovascular and home care services, OSF patients have access to a variety of medical services.

OSF remains at the forefront of innovation and technology while always providing compassionate care to every patient, every day.

Who will be caring for me?

Each OSF OnCall Urgent Care clinic is staffed by an advanced practice provider, such as a physician assistant or advanced practice registered nurse. In addition, a radiology technologist and either a certified medical assistant, a medical office assistant or a licensed practical nurse, are also on staff to serve as your Care Guide during your visit.

During a virtual visit, you'll be cared for by the same trusted providers you would see during an in-person clinic visit.

What are the wait times?

You can walk-in to get in-person care every day from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. There’s little wait time and most patients can expect to get in and get out in under 40 minutes. You can also make an online reservation or begin a virtual visit from anywhere.

In compliance with the state law of Illinois, our provider takes a 30 minute break that will start between 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. The exact timing of the lunch is coordinated during the lowest patient volumes in an effort to minimize delays. Please note, during this time you may experience longer than usual wait times or minor delays in being seen.

Can the urgent care do X-rays?

Yes, X-rays are available as part of your treatment plan, if needed.

Is my insurance plan accepted for my urgent care visit?

OSF OnCall Urgent Care accepts a number of insurance plans, including Blue Cross Blue Shield, Humana and Health Alliance. Click here to see a complete list of plans.

Do I need to have a primary care physician?

No, you don’t need to have a primary care physician to be seen at one of our urgent care clinics. If you’d like, we can help connect you to a provider in your area for your future health and wellness needs.

What if I have a medical emergency?

If this is a medical emergency, call 9-1-1 or get to the emergency room at a hospital near you.
