Connections 111: OSF Home Care Telemonitoring & Wound Care

As I mentioned last week, November is National Home Care and Hospice Month. Although all of our OSF caregivers know we have OSF Home Care Services to care for patients in their own homes, I’m guessing some of you aren’t aware of the full extent of the many services that can be and actually are provided by our expert home care specialists.

Telemonitoring & Wound Care

Telemonitoring

OSF Home Care telemonitoring system collects patients’ vital signs daily and transmits the information to a central station for immediate review. The system collects heart rate, oxygen saturation, blood pressure, body weight and temperature.

This allows OSF Home Care caregivers to spot and detect problems early to avoid sending patients to the hospital or emergency department. Patients receive daily reminders and step-by-step instructions to take their vital signs.

Wound Care

OSF Home Care also offers comprehensive care to patients suffering from chronic wounds. These wounds can be caused from conditions such as diabetes, traumatic injuries, pressure ulcers, burns, and radiation-related skin conditions in cancer patients. Our certified and knowledgeable wound care staff customizes each patient’s wound care

If you have any questions about these or any of the services provided by OSF Home Care, please contact me and, if need be, I can direct you to the appropriate person.
