New Direction

This blog has been active for about seven months now, as a sort of combination of a previous attempt at education for clinicians (the “Connections” posts) and an effort to spread the word about supportive care more broadly.

The goal was to educate, inform, and discuss with a wide audience the work going on in supportive care, both at OSF HealthCare and externally as well. That goal seems to be a bit broad, so we are taking a slightly new direction with this blog, starting today.

The Connections posts will continue, but will be more narrowly focused on our own OSF physicians, staff, and employees. We will highlight areas of supportive care that are more geared toward what is happening in OSF specifically, and we will also have more clinically oriented material. These posts will be housed on an internal portal. The link to that portal will come in an email to those on the Connections list.

Building a Better Blog

The OSF Supportive Care Blog will be for the general public including patients and families. We hope to inform, educate, discuss, and sometimes entertain you in these posts. We are very open to suggested topics, and we love comments and discussion.

What would you like to see on this blog? What topics are of most interest to you? What is confusing about supportive care and/or palliative care and needs explaining? Do you have a story you’d like to share with us? Please leave a comment below and share your thoughts with us.
