Supportive Care Connections 100

Today marks the 100th edition of these weekly messages that I send out under the title of “Supportive Care Connections.”  You may recall I started these messages two years ago at the request of the physicians on the OSF Supportive Care Governance Council.  The intent was to provide updates about the patient satisfaction results and utilization data for our supportive care programs including palliative care, home care and hospice services.  To that core of topics I’ve added excerpts and references to journal and consumer articles as well as educational series related to various Supportive Care topics.

Please let me know what else you would like me to address as I transition these weekly messages to our newly launched OSF Supportive Care blog.

Thanks to all of you who are directly involved in providing supportive care and to all of you others whose backing is critical to the success of treating our patients in the right settings at the right times with the greatest care and love.

As part of OSF and committed to supportive care, as employees we need to lead the way in OSF Care Decisions. With more than 15,000 employees strong, we need to lead the way and each of us make a concentrated effort this year to ensure we have completed OSF Care Decisions and encouraged our families to do so also.

All of us are over 18 and really need to complete this and if we each got three family members to also complete it, we could complete more than 50,000 this year. One of the main focuses is on those over 65, so each of us could reach out to our family members here who are over 65 and work toward achieving this.
