The top choice for stroke care is now the region's only certified Comprehensive Stroke Center.

Experience. Speed. Technology. 24/7.

During a stroke, the human brain loses about 2 million neurons every minute, and you can't get those back. When a stroke hits, time is critical. So is choosing the right hospital. OSF HealthCare Saint Anthony Medical Center represents your best chance for surviving a stroke, no matter what type of stroke it is, or when it occurs.

As a Comprehensive Stroke Center, OSF Saint Anthony must be able to treat any type of stroke with every known treatment 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our status means we can handle multiple complex stroke cases at any time of the day or night, with a highly specialized stroke care staff, a team approach and the most advanced imaging methods.

Stroke care at OSF Saint Anthony is built on:

  • The region's most experienced, coordinated team
  • The latest technology, including a state-of-the-art operating room

You never have to settle for less than the best, no matter when a stroke happens. Our team is highly coordinated to get stroke patients diagnosed, assessed and treated as quickly as possible. The earlier you are diagnosed, the more options for treatment you have and the better your chances for a full recovery.

Experiencing a stroke? Don't drive yourself.
Call 9-1-1 immediately.

If you or a loved one is exhibiting stroke symptoms, do not drive to the emergency room yourself. You may think this will get you to the hospital more quickly than waiting for an ambulance to arrive, but this can actually increase the length of time it takes to get the care a stroke patient needs. Instead, call 9-1-1 immediately and ask to go to OSF HealthCare Saint Anthony Medical Center.

By calling 9-1-1, you can ensure the OSF Saint Anthony team is ready to treat a stroke right away. The emergency transport crew reaches out to the OSF Saint Anthony emergency department en route to the hospital and informs them a stroke patient is on the way. The emergency department then notifies the stroke team, so the specialty stroke care needed is ready when the stroke patient arrives, and the emergency department knows where to send the patient immediately.

This highly coordinated team approach is a big reason why OSF Saint Anthony has such a great track record of positive results for stroke patients.
