Publishing and Unpublishing Changes

Publish a Page

When a page or component is saved and ready to be published, you can publish or preview it using the following steps.

  1. Right click on the item in the content tree.
  2. Select Publish Item.

  3. Set the Publishing targets to either Internet (web) AND Preview (preview), or just Preview (preview)

  4. Click Publish.

Schedule a Page to Publish

Set a date and time for a page to publish change automatically. This works for completely new pages and changes to existing pages.

  1. Select the page in the content tree.
  2. Scroll down to the Publishing section.

  3. Set a date to Publish.
  4. Select Internet.
  5. Save the page.

Preview a Page Without Publishing

Share a preview of page changes, but prevent anyone from accidentally publishing your changes.

  1. Follow the steps above to create a preview the page.
  2. Scroll down to the Publishing section.
  3. Check "Never publish."
  4. Save the page.

Unpublish a Page

Unpublish a page from the site, redirect it, and prevent it from being published again.

  1. Select the page in the content tree.
  2. Scroll down to the Publishing section.
  3. Select Internet (web) and Preview (preview) as the Publishing targets.
  4. Under "Unpublish," click Now.
  5. Click "Never publish."
  6. Save the page.
  7. Change the page Display Name to include "Not Published - [Page name]"
  8. Add a redirect to prevent traffic to the unpublished page.
  9. Publish the redirect.

Deleting a Page

Delete a page entirely from the website.

  1. Select the page in the content tree.
  2. In the top menu, under Home, click Delete.
  3. If you see the Breaking Links pop-up, select the appropriate option:

    1. Remove links - If there are only in-line links to the page, then you can use this option.
    2. Link to another items - If the page is being replaced by a new page, then use this option and select the new page in the content tree.
    3. Leave links - Do NOT use this option. We don't want to leave any broken links.
    4. Edit Links - If you're not sure where there are links to this page, you can use this to scroll through and decide what to do with each link. Watch for any internal/external links in Right Rails; these need to be removed.
  4. Click Continue.
  5. Select the Parent page (or higher) in the content tree.
  6. Right-click on the page and click Publish Item.
  7. Ensure Publishing targets is set to Internet (Web) is selected.
  8. Click Publish.
  9. Add a redirect to prevent traffic to the unpublished page.
  10. Publish the redirect.
