Foot Care

People with diabetes are prone to foot problems because the disease can cause damage to the blood vessels and nerves, which may result in decreased ability to sense injuries to the feet. The immune system is also altered, so that the diabetic cannot efficiently fight infection.

Diabetic foot examinations are an important part of the overall care of the diabetic patient population.

At OSF Holy Family Medical Center, we offer diabetic foot care, as well as treatment of ulcers of the lower leg and foot in our podiatry office.
