Today the Board of Trustees at Kewanee Hospital met with leaders from OSF Healthcare System to choose a new name for the hospital. Sister Diane Marie, O.S.F., President of OSF Healthcare System, led the team through a thought provoking presentation. The Board voted and chose the name of OSF Saint Luke Medical Center as the new name for Kewanee Hospital upon joining OSF.
“The process for choosing the name was very special to our board and our executive team,” stated Lynn Fulton, CEO of Kewanee Hospital. “It was an opportunity for OSF to share an important part of their Ministry with Kewanee Hospital as well as highlight our new future as part of the OSF Healthcare System.”
The board along with OSF believes that OSF Saint Luke Medical Center is a meaningful name for the hospital as well as for the Kewanee community. The team chose the name Saint Luke because of its link to health care and strong history. Many know Saint Luke as the Patron Saint of Physicians.
Before a change of ownership occurs the organizations must receive approval from the Illinois Health Facilities & Services Review Board. Kewanee Hospital and OSF Healthcare System are scheduled to appear before that board at the December 17, 2013 meeting.
