OSF Saint Francis Medical Center and Proctor Hospital have had a longstanding relationship, working together to care for the community we both call home. In light of economic realities and the health care reform landscape, Proctor approached OSF about enhancing our relationship. It was clear that their ability to continue to provide primary care services was at risk. With that in mind, we looked to do what was in the best interests of care for area patients.
Today, OSF HealthCare is pleased to announce an effort to preserve access to primary and urgent care services in Peoria through the purchase of select assets from Proctor Health Care. These include their primary care physician practices (17 doctors), five Proctor First Care centers and three primary care sites. Our immediate plans are to maintain these services and facilities as they are today.
The transition means area patients are able to maintain access to the same facilities and physicians they have come to know and trust. OSF has a tradition of meeting and exceeding the needs of those we have the privilege to serve, and we look forward to continuing to fulfill our Mission. This will take effect around the end of March 2013.
