Kewanee Hospital Officially Becomes OSF Saint Luke

Today marks the first official day for OSF Saint Luke Medical Center.  There was an invitation-only Blessing & Dedication Ceremony officiated by the Most Reverend Bishop Daniel R. Jenky at 10:00 a.m. on the grounds of the hospital.  The Bishop was joined by Father Johndameseni Zilimu, Pastor of St. Mary Parish, who assisted in blessing all areas within OSF Saint Luke.

OSF Saint Luke Medical Center - LogoIn addition to Bishop Jenky, also speaking at the ceremony were Sister Judith Ann, O.S.F., Chairperson of OSF Healthcare System and Major Superior of The Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis, Kevin Schoeplein, CEO, OSF Healthcare System, Lynn Fulton, President of OSF Saint Luke Medical Center, Daniel Congreve, MD, Medical Director of OSF Saint Luke Medical Center and Gary Pheiffer, Chair of the new Community Advisory Board for OSF Saint Luke.

In her opening comments, Lynn Fulton explained that April is a historic month for the Hospital and one that has special meaning for the community.  OSF Saint Luke Medical Center will celebrate 95 years of serving the community on April 17th.  The participants in the Blessing & Dedication Ceremony recognized the significance and celebrated with a Birthday Cake in honor of the Hospital’s history as well as the future with OSF Healthcare System. 

The Blessing & Dedication culminates a multi-year endeavor.  In her welcome letter to OSF Saint Luke Medical Center employees, physicians and volunteers, Sister Judith Ann noted, “We publicly announced our intent to integrate Kewanee Hospital into OSF on November 6, 2012.  For many months prior, much study and deliberation were devoted to developing our initial Letter of Intent.  Together we have successfully completed this multi-year journey and now we can celebrate Kewanee Hospital becoming OSF Saint Luke Medical Center.  Thank you for helping to make this a reality.”
