OSF St. Joseph Nationally Ranked; Receives Patient Experience Award

An analysis of patient surveys at 3,582 U.S. hospitals by Healthgrades found OSF St. Joseph Medical Center was ranked in the top five percent, and as a result, received the 2014 Healthgrades Outstanding Patient Experience Award™. The surveys were given to patients shortly after their discharge to ascertain their experience on a range of issues, from communication with doctors and nurses, to cleanliness and pain management. 

OSF St. Joseph Medical Center was one of 17 recipients of the Healthgrades Outstanding Patient Experience Award in Illinois and the only Bloomington-Normal area hospital receiving the designation.

The award highlights the performance of hospitals that have been evaluated by their patients in surveys collected by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) after they are discharged from the hospital. The surveys measure patients’ satisfaction with the quality of care they received, among other things.

Out of 3,582 hospitals evaluated across the nation, Healthgrades recognized 447 hospitals. Out of 447 hospitals, OSF St. Joseph was ranked among the top five percent in the nation. The distinction places this elite group of 22 hospitals within the top hospitals for their excellent performance in the delivery of positive experience for patients during their hospital stay.
