Occupational Therapy Event to be Held in Rockford

3/28/2014 - Rockford, Illinois

Do you or your loved ones struggle with a disease, disorder, or limitation that makes it difficult to engage in everyday activities? Occupational therapy can help increase their participation and independence while reducing health care costs.

OSF Home Care Services is hosting an event for the public to meet Occupational Therapists and have general therapy questions answered. (Occupational Therapy services do require a physician order.) The OSF Home Medical Equipment store will also display aids to daily living, which assist Occupational Therapy patients in their environments (home, work, school, community, etc.).

WHAT: Occupational Therapy Information Event
WHEN: Wednesday, April 16, 2014
TIME: 2-4 p.m.

Occupational therapy helps people recover from injury to regain function through retraining and/or adaptations and provides support for older adults experiencing physical and cognitive changes. Services typically include:

  • an individualized evaluation, during which the client, family, and occupational therapist determine the person’s goals,
  • a customized intervention to improve the person’s ability to perform daily activities and reach their goals,
  • an outcomes evaluation to ensure that the goals are being met and/or to modify the intervention plan based on the patient’s needs and skills.
