OSF St. Mary Medical Center is delighted to announce the newly renovated Intensive Critical Care Unit (ICCU).

The new ICCU now has a modern layout and feel. It consists of six (6) 290 sq. ft. patient rooms with a dedicated family space.  All rooms have glass, curtained doors for privacy and noise reduction. The department itself also includes a dedicated visitor waiting room with a separate consultation room.

The total cost of the renovation project was $3.35M.

"We are honored and excited to make this economic investment in our community,” said Roxanna Crosser, President of OSF St. Mary Medical Center. "Not only are we able to offer a new, state-of-the-art ICCU to care for patients at their most critical times of need, but we have also redesigned our approach to caring for critical care patients."

One of the state-of-the-art programs include the use of OSF ConstantCare, the eICU (electronic intensive care unit) monitoring center at the OSF HealthCare Ministry office building in Peoria. The eICU allows ICCU patients from multiple OSF hospitals to be monitored and evaluated on a real time basis.  The eICU team includes Board Certified intensive care physicians and experienced critical care nurses. The goal of this program is simple: to save lives, reduce complications, decrease length of stays and better manage healthcare costs. Studies have shown improved outcomes and decreased lengths of stay for patients in intensive critical care units managed by specialists in critical care.

“Our hospital delivers patient-centered care by a staff of professionals who genuinely care for the well-being of others,” said Crosser. “We want to deliver extraordinary care to our patients and their families. The newly renovated ICCU is an example of how rural hospitals are able to bring a higher level of care to patients in times of changing health care options. This is yet another collaboration within the OSF HealthCare Ministry that is beneficial to patients and communities.”
