OSF Healthcare System has been ranked as one of the top performing health care systems in the country by Truven, an independent health care analytics research company.
OSF HealthCare is ranked in the top 20 percent of large health care systems in the United States, based on publicly reported data. Rankings are updated yearly, with the most recent data from 2013. Hospital systems are categorized by financial size so comparison is fair. Truven reviewed 114 large systems.
“This recognition is a direct reflection on the tireless efforts of our Mission Partners at OSF and their focused attention to each person we serve,” said Kevin Schoeplein, OSF HealthCare CEO. “This study confirms that we have been placing our resources in the right place as part of continued emphasis on transforming health care to best serve and care for our patients and communities.”
Ten categories were measured, including patient safety, patient mortality, readmission rates, average length of stay, complications, and overall patient satisfaction.
OSF Saint Francis Medical Center (Peoria), OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center (Rockford), OSF St. Joseph Medical Center (Bloomington), OSF Saint James-John W. Albrecht Medical Center (Pontiac), OSF Saint Elizabeth Medical Center (Ottawa), and OSF St. Mary Medical Center (Galesburg) were included in the Truven analysis.
“This ranking gives me distinct pleasure because it highlights the success that can only come from truly working as a connected team across our entire Ministry,” said Michelle Conger, OSF HealthCare Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer. “While the hard work continues, our patients are benefitting from our focus on providing better care, a better experience and better value.”
