Nearly 200 simulation specialists from all over the world were at Jump Trading Simulation & Education Center August 2 – 5 for SimGHOSTS 2016 Symposium: USA, a hands-on training and networking conference for those who run medical simulations.

This is the 6th year SimGHOSTS (Gathering of Healthcare Simulation Technology Specialists) has held events around the world. Jump in Peoria was the only U.S. site selected to accommodate the conference. Melbourne, London and Dubai also served as hosts.

The goal of SimGHOSTS symposiums is to standardize the way health care simulation takes place across the world. It also works to advocate on behalf of the simulation community to the greater public.

“This aligns perfectly with what Jump Simulation works to do every day,” said Dustin Holzwarth, a Simulation Specialist for Jump Sim and presenter at the SimGHOSTS conference. “We were honored to share our best practices and processes with simulation specialists from around the world and gain new insights for our team as well.”

Six Jump simulation specialists gave presentations during the symposium and Dr. John Vozenilek, Vice President and Chief Medical Officer for Jump Simulation was a keynote speaker.

Participants learned new techniques that enhance realism in scenarios, and increase reliability and flexibility of a simulation center’s systems. It also gave attendees an opportunity to learn how others conduct simulation and network with each other.

Sessions included training on how to prepare fake wounds and hands-on time with different types of manikins, including a 25-week pre-term newborn.
