National Accolades for OSF HealthCare-Offered Diet Plan

2/01/2016 - Peoria, Illinois

A diet plan available in central Illinois through OSF HealthCare is making national headlines for its proven results.

The Health Management Resources program (HMR) has been named a Best Weight-Loss Diet in U.S. News & World Reports’ Best Diets of 2016 Rankings. This is the second year in a row HMR has been included in the annual rankings list. This year it won two awards, one for fastest weight loss and a second for general weight loss.

The specialized diet is offered at both OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, and at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington.

Meta Rask is the Medical Exercise Supervisor at the OSF Weight Loss Center in Peoria. She says HMRs long term behavioral approach is the key to its success.

“We work with patients on making healthy lifestyle changes and practicing these changes long term.  Not only do they lose weight, but improve the quality of their lives significantly.”

A recent patient survey found the average HMR patient was keeping 40-plus pounds off for more than three and a half years.

“The HMR diet allows for patients to lose weight without feeling hungry or deprived which is what typically leads to people giving up on a diet,” says Crystal Moulton, Weight Management Specialist at OSF St. Joseph. “Our goal is to get our patients to stay on the diet and reach their health and weight loss goals.  In addition to being filling and healthy, the HMR products are also very convenient and portable for busy lifestyles.”

The meal replacement diet can be followed at home or under medical supervision in a clinic. Under HMR, dieters can choose low-calorie shakes, soups, nutrition bars and multi-grain cereal. Another plus, according to U.S. News reviewers, the HMR diet provides a quick-start option and convenience of meals delivered to a dieter.

HMR’s proven methods are based on more than 30 years of weight-loss coaching experience. It takes into account aspects of adult learning theory to create diet programs that are both effective and easy to stick to, helping users solidify new skills and habits they can use for the rest of their lives.
