OSF Saint Elizabeth Medical Center will host a blood drive this week as well as a couple educational events in early August.
Hospital to Host Blood Drive on Thursday
The summer months can often be challenging for blood donations due to busy schedules, but the need for donors during this time is especially important. Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs a blood transfusion. One donor can help save more than one life.
OSF Saint Elizabeth is hosting an American Red Cross Blood Drive on Thursday, July 21 from 7:15 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Anyone considering blood donation is encouraged to participate. Appointments are encouraged. Walk-ins are also welcome.
A valid photo ID is required, and donors are asked to eat a healthy meal and drink plenty of water prior to donating. Help to streamline the process of blood donation by using Rapid Pass, a new advance "check in" feature. Visit www.redcrossblood.org/rapidpass for more information.

New Fertility Clinic Offers Lunch and Learn
A new Ottawa clinic is offering an educational event at OSF Saint Elizabeth Medical Center to announce its services. The OSF Institute for Women’s Health and Fertility will host a Lunch and Learn on Thursday, August 4 from noon to 1 p.m.
The presentation will introduce methods for monitoring gynecologic and reproductive health. The hour-long session will discuss the Creighton Model FertilityCare System as well as Natural Procreative (NaPro) Technology.
The Creighton Model is used to chart a woman’s cycle to determine when she is fertile and infertile. Charting can also uncover abnormalities within a woman’s gynecologic system. NaPro Technology provides medical and surgical treatments that work within a woman’s body to correct menstrual cycle irregularities. Dr. Elizabeth Cox and Deanna Zdunich, RN, two providers from the OSF Institute for Women’s Health and Fertility, will be on hand to answer questions.
Lunch will be provided for this special lunch and learn event. Advance registration is requested, as seating is limited. To reserve a seat for the event, call (815) 431-5499.
