Two OSF Hospitals Named Among the Best in the Country

5/10/2016 - Peoria, Illinois

Both OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg, Ill., and OSF Saint James-John W. Albrecht Medical Center in Pontiac, Ill. have been named a Top 100 Rural & Community Hospitals in the United States. The honor comes from iVantage, company specializing in health analytics and performance benchmarking nationally.

Only four hospitals in Illinois were named to this list, meaning OSF HealthCare makes up 50% of the Top Rural & Community Hospitals in the state. Leadership at both Saint James and St. Mary say a lot of this recognition is due to the dedication of their OSF Mission Partners.

“We’re proud to be included in iVantage’s list,” said Brad Solberg, President of OSF Saint James-John W. Albrecht Medical Center. “They use quite a few metrics so it really shines the light on results which is quality care for our patients and our communities. It certainly reflects the work of our Mission Partners and our providers striving to exceed the expectations of every patient every day in every setting.”

"At OSF St. Mary Medical Center, we are continuously looking for ways to better serve the growing health needs of the community," said President Roxanna Crosser. "This national recognition from iVantage validates the dedicated service of our Mission Partners for the exceptional care they provide each and every day."

St. Mary and Saint James both scored in the top 100 of rural and community hospitals on iVantage’s Hospital Strength INDEX®. The INDEX is the industry’s most comprehensive rating of rural and Critical Access Hospitals. The results recognize that the Top 100 Rural & Community Hospitals play a key role in providing a safety net to communities across America – measuring them across more than 70 different performance metrics, including quality, outcomes, patient perspective, affordability, population risk and efficiency.

“The Top 100 Rural & Community Hospitals play a vital role in ensuring the long-term sustainability of the rural health safety net,” said Michael Topchik, senior vice president of iVantage Health Analytics. “Our data analysis shows that this group of top performers exhibits a focused concern for their community benefits and needs, regardless of scale, reimbursement and people’s ability to pay.”
