Don Damron has been named Vice President of Ambulatory Services for OSF Saint Elizabeth Medical Center. Don will transition into his new role over the next 30 days and will report to Ken Beutke, President of OSF Saint Elizabeth Medical Center.
In his new role, Don will oversee the development and operation of ambulatory services located at OSF Center for Health - Streator, OSF HealthCare - Ottawa South, and OSF Saint Elizabeth Medical Center including: diagnostic imaging, laboratory, respiratory, sleep center, occupational health, wellness/fitness, rehabilitation and cardiac/pulmonary rehabilitation. He will collaborate with all other divisions to ensure efficient and effective delivery of an ambulatory services strategy and oversee the division performance through identification of and response to market conditions, accreditation and regulatory requirements. He will work to manage capital financial and human resources of the division and develop and implement appropriate plans, goals, budgets and polices. He will also establish standard operating procedures for the division in collaboration with other department directors as well as direct the delivery of quality patient care and related services.
Don most recently served as Manager of Rehabilitation, Occupational Health and Wellness Services. Prior to joining OSF this past January, Don served as Director of Ambulatory Services at St. Mary’s Hospital - Streator, part of Hospital Sisters Health System. In that role, he significantly improved quality standards for patient care and regulatory compliance and guided the revision of policies and procedures and department competencies. He led and grew partnerships between the hospital and community; managed the retention, placement and recruitment process to develop an ongoing network of future providers; and improved patient satisfaction metrics. He also oversaw program development and integration of multiple services.
Prior to his career in health care leadership, Don was a physical therapist at Newsome and Damron Physical Therapy Center, where he was also a partner and director. Don earned his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from the University of Illinois Champaign/Urbana and his master’s degree in physical therapy from Midwestern University. Don completed the Leadership Academy for Healthcare Transformation through Rush University and the Illinois Hospital Association and is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
