OSF HealthCare is pleased to announce Dwight Stapleton, MD, has joined the OSF family as Vice President, Medical Services for OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg, OSF Holy Family Medical Center in Monmouth, and OSF Saint Luke Medical Center in Kewanee.
Prior to joining OSF, Dr. Stapleton was Chief of Cardiovascular Services, Chairman of the Department of Medicine, and Chief Academic Officer at Guthrie Clinic in Sayre, PA, where he oversaw 100 physician and advanced practice clinicians across a broad spectrum of specialties. During his tenure, Guthrie was recognized in the Top Quintile of Truven Integrated HealthCare Systems and was named a Truven Top 50 Cardiovascular Hospital for a tenth time. He had been with Guthrie since 2001.
Before joining the staff at Guthrie, Dr. Stapleton was with Tulane University Medical Center in New Orleans as Director of Cardiovascular Critical Care and the Cardiology Fellowship Program. Prior to that, he was Director of the Advanced Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplant Unit at Ochsner Heart and Vascular Institute in New Orleans.
Dr. Stapleton received his medical degree from Yale, a Master of Medical Management from Tulane, was a Research Fellow at Australian National University, and did a Cardiology Fellowship at the University of Washington in Seattle.
In addition to his administrative duties, Dr. Stapleton will also provide care for cardiology patients in OSF’s west central region.
