The building that houses Children’s Hospital of Illinois and services for OSF Saint Francis Medical Center has won a 2016 American Architecture Award from The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.
The building, known as the Milestone building during construction, was chosen from a list of 380 buildings, and is one of 74 to win the award. It recognizes the best architectural examples of design excellence and champions the finest contributions to innovative contemporary American architecture.
CannonDesign, a global design firm with locations all over the world, including Chicago, designed the building which opened in 2010. It also houses the Jim and Trudy Maloof St. Jude Affiliate Clinic. The awards will be handed out October 3 at a ceremony in Chicago. In addition, all winners will be included in an exhibition in Athens, Greece, in December.
