Highlighting its nationally recognized achievements in patient safety and quality, OSF HealthCare Holy Family Medical Center was named a Top Rural Hospital by The Leapfrog Group for the second time; the first, being in 2015. Announced today, the Leapfrog Top Hospital award is widely acknowledged as one of the most competitive honors American hospitals can receive. The Top Hospital designation is awarded by The Leapfrog Group, an independent hospital watchdog organization.
“I am extremely proud of the OSF Holy Family team. Our team’s dedication to providing our patients and our community with the highest quality and safest care is evident daily. Everyone at HFMC is committed to ensuring that the care we provide is the best. It is gratifying to be recognized as a leader in outcomes by such a nationally known organization, Leapfrog. Our patients deserve the best in quality, safety, outcomes and experience and I believe that we deliver on that promise to our community.” Patty Luker, President, OSF Holy Family Medical Center
Among thousands of hospitals in the country, OSF Holy Family Medical Center received a Top Rural Hospital distinction, recognized nationally alongside:
- 10 Top Children’s Hospitals
- 45 Top General Hospitals
- 18 Top Rural Hospitals
- 36 Top Teaching Hospitals
Performance across many areas of hospital care is considered in establishing the qualifications for the award, including infection rates, maternity care, and the hospital’s capacity to prevent medication errors. The rigorous standards are defined in each year’s Top Hospital Methodology.
“We are proud to recognize OSF Holy Family Medical Center as a 2017 Leapfrog Top Hospital. This demonstrates extraordinary dedication to patients and the local community. The entire staff and board deserve praise for putting quality first and achieving results,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of Leapfrog.
To qualify for the Top Hospitals distinction, hospitals must submit a Leapfrog Hospital Survey. The selection of Top Hospitals 2017 is based on surveys from nearly 1,900 hospitals. To see the full list of institutions honored as 2017 Top Hospitals, visit www.leapfroggroup.org/tophospitals.
About The Leapfrog Group
Founded in 2000 by large employers and other purchasers, The Leapfrog Group is a national nonprofit organization driving a movement for giant leaps forward in the quality and safety of American health care. The flagship Leapfrog Hospital Survey collects and transparently reports hospital performance, empowering purchasers to find the highest-value care and giving consumers the lifesaving information they need to make informed decisions.
