OSF HealthCare St. Francis Hospital & Medical Group's Auxiliary Christmas Luncheon Held

12/13/2017 - Escanaba, Michigan

Nearly 100 OSF St. Francis Hospital Auxiliary members and OSF Home Care & Hospice volunteers gathered last week for the annual Auxiliary & Volunteer Christmas Luncheon at the Island Resort & Casino.

“We like to take this special time out each year to recognize and thank our volunteers and Auxiliary members for their service and contributions to OSF HealthCare and most importantly, to our patients,” said Dave Lord, President at OSF HealthCare St. Francis Hospital & Medical Group.

Several members were acknowledged and received milestone pins for their hours of service. Dave Wilson and Theresa Jenshak became honorary Auxiliary members after serving 2000 hours. Twenty one of the nearly 200 volunteers share this honor.

Jean Arvan, Director of Philanthropy, said, “The dedicated volunteers provide many hours of service and assist to raise funds for OSF St. Francis Hospital and Medical Group. The volunteers support our hospital by serving in areas throughout the hospital and raising funds to use towards the purchase of equipment and technology that will assist with patient care and comfort.” The Auxiliary recently provided funds to purchase a bariatric bed for patients. “These items are costly, so we are very appreciative of their support.”

OSF St. Francis Hospital Auxiliary members and volunteers donate more than 11,000 hours annually.  They help patients and visitors in a variety of ways, including staffing the hospital information desk, medical office building information desk, surgery waiting lounge, and they assist the Hospice staff, patients and family members.  They also provide services to operate our hospital gift shop.

Volunteers enjoy assisting patients but also enjoy the comradery and socialization.  For information about volunteer opportunities with OSF HealthCare, contact Jean Arvan at 786-5707, ext. 5516.
