The following contributions were received recently at OSF Saint Elizabeth Medical Center.
Family Room Donation
The Family Room, a community program funded solely by donations, is supported by the OSF Saint Elizabeth Medical Center Auxiliary. Donations of $100 from Rose Knudson, $500 from The First Baptist Church of Ottawa and $2500 from Fairmount Santrol were recently accepted by the Auxiliary in designation of the program. Auxiliary Board President, Pam Muzzarelli along with Family Room volunteers Sharon Nelson and Dan Sholders are shown accepting the donation from Fairmount representative Mary Holloway (second from left).
The Family Room is a program that allows parents to exchange points earned by exhibiting healthy parenting behaviors for baby and toddler supplies, as well as laundry and cleaning products. To assist parents in earning points, The Family Room provides parenting education on healthy lifestyle choices for parents-to-be and parents of children from infancy to age 3.
Participation in the Family Room is strictly voluntary; however, all parents must first belong to the WIC (Women, Infant and Children) Program through the LaSalle County Health Department and reside in Eastern LaSalle County. The Family Room maintains a storefront at 1808 Seneca Drive and can be reached by calling (815) 431-9665.
Heritage Woods Helps Care-A-Van
Heritage Woods of Ottawa held a silent gift basket auction on December 9 with gift baskets that were donated by local businesses. Proceeds from the event totaled $2400 and were donated to the Care-A-Van program at OSF Saint Elizabeth Medical Center.
The program is staffed by the hospital volunteers and offers a method of transportation for patients living within 8 miles of the hospital in need of its services. The Care-A-Van typically makes several trips a week to Heritage Woods and transports its residents to and from the hospital for appointments. The basket auction is a way for Heritage Woods to show appreciation for the free service.
Shown in the accompanying photo is Deb Pusateri, marketing director for Heritage Woods (second from right) presenting the donation to several hospital Care-A-Van drivers. From left to right, drivers include: Brad Campbell, Mike Crawshaw, Jim Eichelkraut, and Maz Mazza.
