OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center is pleased to announce the most recent winners of the DAISY Award, which recognizes outstanding nursing care. Winners are nominated by patients and their families.
The July 2018 Daisy Award was presented to Carolyn Campbell from Peoria. She works in the Surgical ICU. Her nomination from the parents of a patient reads:
Carolyn treated (our daughter) with compassion and dignity while caring for her. She always explained to (our daughter) and us everything she was doing when administering medicine. This may seem small, but it helped us understand what was happening with (our daughter’s) care. It also showed us that Carolyn was going to treat (our daughter) appropriately despite her intellectual disability.
The August 2018 Daisy Award was given to Sarah Eggena from Washington. She works in Labor and Delivery. Her nomination from a patient reads:
Sarah's patience and calm presence helped to alleviate my fears and encouraged me in a long labor that ended in C-section.
The Daisy Award is a national endeavor that recognizes exemplary professional practice among nurses. OSF Saint Francis was the first hospital in the Midwest to participate in the program. Nurses who win receive a special pin and a bouquet of daisies.
