OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center is pleased to announce the most recent winners of the DAISY Award, which recognizes outstanding nursing care. Winners are nominated by patients and their families.
The March 2018 Daisy Award was presented to Tyler Berger from Bartonville. She works in the Acute Medical Specialty Unit. Her nomination from the family member of a patient reads:
Tyler is exemplary in her nursing duties. She showed genuine concern and care for my wife. She even went as far as to give her a back rub if her back hurt. You're very lucky to have her on your staff and may God bless her for she is truly an angel on earth. Thank you to all the nursing staff on 2700, especially Tyler. She has been heaven sent!
The April 2018 Daisy Award was given to Amy Williamson from Pekin. She works in Ante Partum. Her nomination from the family member of a patient reads:
Amy was my mother's nurse during her post-operative stay for a rare cancerous condition. Amy went above and beyond in many ways, including doing an internet search to educate herself on my mother's condition. Amy is clearly a top-notch nurse who stayed on top of all symptoms and procedures and helped others to learn them. Amy wasn't just friendly and caring, she took the time to listen and understand my mother's concerns without dismissing or belittling her.
The Daisy Award is a national endeavor that recognizes exemplary professional practice among nurses. OSF Saint Francis was the first hospital in the Midwest to participate in the program. Nurses who win receive a special pin and a bouquet of daisies.
