OSF HealthCare Saint James Celebrates Heart Month with “Know Your Numbers” for Women

(Pontiac, IL | January 21, 2019) – Heart disease is the leading cause of death for men and women in the United States. Every year, 1 in 4 deaths is caused by heart disease. However, heart disease can often be prevented.

February is American Heart Month. OSF HealthCare and the OSF HealthCare Cardiovascular Institute are marking the occasion by encouraging women to be their own Heart Hero by making healthy choices and managing health conditions. You can fight heart disease villains like high blood pressure and inactivity and lessen your risk. Take action and take better care of your heart today!

OSF HealthCare Saint James – John W. Albrecht Medical Center and Women Empowered Livingston County are hosting “Know Your Numbers” for women on Wednesday, February 27 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the medical center. Before the event, guests must schedule a 15-minute appointment for a fasting blood test and questionnaire.

Step 1:  Call (815) 842-4583 by February 22 to schedule a private 15-minute appointment for a FREE fasting blood test and questionnaire. Convenient days and times are available. The screening is required to register you for attendance at the February 27 event.

5-6 p.m.              Complimentary dinner in the cafeteria

6-7 p.m.              Nancy Kuster, MS, CCRP, will review the screening and risk assessment results each participant will receive. Sarah Maurer, APRN, OSF HealthCare Cardiovascular Institute, will speak about how to reduce and manage your risks for heart disease.
