OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center’s Faith Community Nursing program is hosting a neighborhood Back-to-School event Thursday, July 25 from 2-6 p.m. at their Garden of Hope, 1010 S. Louisa St. in Peoria.
It’s the second year for the event that will offer free back-to-school physicals, healthy recipes and samples, family activities, and free school supplies while they last. “We love getting out in the community and connecting with those we serve,” said Jo Garrison, director of Ambulatory Patient Care. “And having the event at St. Ann’s Garden of Hope is perfect. It’s a place where we gather to celebrate life, build friendships and promote good nutrition.”
This is the second growing season for the garden project that provides fruits and vegetables to an area that has little access to fresh produce. Faith Community Nurses are in this community daily connecting patients to needed services on the OSF Care-A-Van.
Media is welcome to attend.
