Help OSF Saint James Bring Light to the Fight

9/19/2019 - Pontiac, Illinois

Early detection is the most effective weapon in the fight against breast cancer. OSF HealthCare wants to make sure every woman who is 40 and older or is at high-risk for breast cancer is getting a regular mammogram.

To help achieve this, OSF HealthCare Saint James – John W. Albrecht Medical Center in Pontiac has set a goal to perform at least 375 mammograms in October – Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Throughout the month, the medical center will be bathed in pink spotlights so the community’s commitment to fighting breast cancer shines bright.

The medical center’s mammography service was recently awarded another three-year term of accreditation from the American College of Radiology. Accreditation is awarded only to facilities meeting the ACR Practice Guidelines and Technical Standards, following a peer review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists. Image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs are assessed.

Mammograms can be scheduled by calling (815) 842-4931. Convenient appointments are available Monday through Saturday.
