The Illinois Critical Access Hospital Network (ICAHN) recently recognized OSF HealthCare Holy Family Medical Center in Monmouth and OSF HealthCare Saint Luke Medical Center in Kewanee for their ongoing commitment to exceptional quality of care.

The recognition occurred at the ICAHN awards ceremony in Champaign, IL. OSF Holy Family and OSF Saint Luke were honored as a top performers in all four quality categories including patient safety, patient engagement, care transitions and outpatient measures and the hospital was singled out for most improvement in one year’s time.

“We are very proud of our teams for achieving this level of excellence in health quality,” said Jackie Kernan, president of OSF Holy Family Medical Center and OSF Saint Luke Medical Center. “This is truly a team effort that recognizes our dedication to delivering a healthcare experience of which our patients and staff at both hospitals can be proud.”

“Often, in rural hospitals, having a devoted staff member to abstract and submit this data about quality, safety and patient care can be both time-consuming and burdensome,” said Angie Charlet, ICAHN senior director of Quality, Educational Services, and Compliance. “These hospitals realize how important quality of care and an engaged staff is for its patients -- from top leadership to employees throughout the facilities, each strives for continued quality on a daily basis, and that is what we are celebrating.”

OSF Holy Family Medical Center was also honored for being an ICAHN IMPACT Award nominee for its Healthy Meals on a Budget program and also for its “Be WELL” (Women Enjoying Living and Learning) program. OSF Saint Luke Medical Center received an additional honor as an IMPACT Award nominee for Best Practices with its Fall Prevention program.
