A community gathering at the Perry Memorial Family Health Clinic, Saturday, March 14, 2020, was a celebration of community generosity. The Perry Memorial Hospital Foundation started the festivities with the Living Legacy Memorial Wall reveal. The wall showcases every donor who helped to carry on the legacy of Julia Rackley Perry from 100 years ago.
Sue Spratt, Perry Memorial Hospital Foundation Chairwoman, said, "your kindness, your spirit, and your philanthropy is a shining example of community. It is generosity like yours that moves our community forward. Thank you for your belief in Perry and our future." Through the generous donation of the Georgia Fay Estate, and the addition of Dr. Harold and Jeanne Hutchinson, Jr. donation, the campaign was able to reach its half-way point. Area business community contributors—Central Bank, First State Bank, and Michlig Grain and with Daryl Becker of Beck’s Oil and the Alfred Shoemake Community Foundation provided an additional boost with their financial commitment emphasizing the value and importance of local community healthcare.
The Living Legacy campaign received 70 contributions to community health from small businesses, individuals and area organizations, including The Princeton Closet, the Princeton Rotary Club, and Foundation. The campaign included 100% participation from the Perry Memorial Hospital Board, the Foundation Board, and the Executive Team.
In early 2018, the Perry team began planning the new facility. Clinic team members, plant operations, technology, environmental services, and dietary began working with the Farnsworth Group and PJ Hoerr on the new facility layout. The team set out to design a building that works for a robust community care delivery model now and into the future. That goal was realized on February 24, 2020.
The Perry Board saw the vision of the primary care community impact and provided their approval of the project. Annette Schnabel, President and CEO, said, “Saturday’s turnout for the Perry Foundation Living Legacy Wall Reveal and Family Clinic Open House was a joyful occasion. Community businesses, organizations, and residents gathered together in celebration. Perry recognizes we are here to engage the community in their primary care health and wellness needs.”
Perry Memorial Hospital has been providing healthcare since June 17, 1920. The Perry Memorial Hospital Foundation "Living Legacy" campaign kicked off on September 25, 2019, to enhance primary care and offer another 100 years of community healthcare. It reached the goal of $500,000 by January 31, 2020. The Perry Memorial Family Health Clinic building is a civic testament to community support for the health and wellness of all generations.
