New COVID-19 Testing Site for Elective Surgeries

5/22/2020 - Rockford, Illinois

Beginning Tuesday, May 26, OSF HealthCare Cardiovascular Institute, located at 444 Roxbury Rd., will become a temporary COVID-19 testing site for patients who have scheduled elective surgeries and procedures. This additional testing site is not only convenient for patients, but also gives patients the option of pre-op COVID-19 testing safely from the comfort of their own vehicle.

“As we begin to ramp up our elective procedures, we found a need for an additional space to test our patients who have scheduled surgeries at our facilities,” said Paula Carynski, president, OSF HealthCare Saint Anthony Medical Center. “We are making these changes and taking these proactive measures to ensure the health and safety of our patients, visitors and Mission Partners.”

The COVID-19 testing site will conduct tests by appointment only and is just for patients who have scheduled procedures, not for the general public. Traffic patterns will not be disrupted and there are signs and cones to help direct patients through the testing site.

Patients will also be provided full details on the process and location of their COVID-19 pre-op test by their physician or other medical staff.

OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center has visitor guidelines in place and will continue to allow one visitor per patient for critically ill patients, those at the end of life, labor & delivery, and one designated health care decision maker for patients unable to make health care decisions for themselves.
