  • Auxiliary Announces 2021 Scholarship Winners

The Perry Memorial Hospital Auxiliary awarded health career scholarships to five area students at a reception held Thursday, April 29, 2021.  The students were recognized and honored with their families socially-distanced in the lobby.  Auxiliary scholarship committee members were present to recognize the scholarship recipients.

This year a total of $5,000 in Auxiliary awards included three Abbie Jean Gunning Scholarships to assist students in the pursuit of any health career position and two Harold Morine Scholarships in support of students pursuing a nursing degree.  This year the Perry Memorial Hospital Foundation provided iPads for applicants who did not receive a scholarship.

Harold Morine Scholarship Recipients ($1000)

Sydney Lebahn of Manlius, IL is presently attending Northern Illinois University. Sydney is working towards her Masters of Nursing degree and eventually becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner.  She presently is a Critical Care RN at Community General Hospital, Sterling, IL.

Madelyn Hultz of Spring Valley, IL attended Hall High School and graduated in May, 2020.  She is presently attending Illinois Valley Community College, Oglesby, IL.  Madelyn is working towards her BS in Nursing.  She plans to attend Mennonite College of Nursing through Illinois State University.  Madelyn obtained her Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate in May of 2020.

Abbie Jean Gunning Scholarship Recipients ($1000)

Hannah Parente of Ladd, IL is presently attending Hall High School and will graduate May 2021.  Hannah will be working towards a Nursing degree at University of Iowa, Iowa City.  Her dream is to become a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.

Addison Moreland of Buda, IL is presently attending Saint Francis Medical Center College of Nursing, Peoria, IL.  Addison will be graduating May of 2022 as a Registered Nurse.  Addison also presently works at Liberty Village in Princeton, IL as a Certified Nursing Assistant. 

Taylor Foes of Buda, IL is presently attending Illinois Valley Community College, Oglesby, IL and will graduate at the end of this summer.  Taylor plans to transfer to Illinois Central College to major in Surgical Technology.  She presently works at Perry Memorial Hospital in the Registration Department as a lead registrar.

Olivia Eiken of Tiskilwa, IL is presently attending Princeton High School and will graduate May 2021.  Olivia will be attending Baylor University in Waco, Texas majoring in Medical Humanities and Premed.

Morgan Krewer of Spring Valley, IL is presently attending Hall High School and will graduate May 2021.  Morgan will be attending Bradley University in Peoria, IL.  She plans to become a Pediatric Nurse.

Zoe Morris of Spring Valley, IL is presently attending Hall High School and will graduate May 2021.  Zoe will major in Pharmacy at University of Iowa, Iowa City.

Gianna Pozzi of Spring Valley, IL is presently attending Hall High School and will graduate May 2021.  Gianna will major in Physical Therapy as a Biology Major at Baylor University, Waco, Texas.

Nicole Wirth of Sheffield, IL is presently attending Saint Frances Medical Center College of Nursing.  Nicole is planning to receive her Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree in December 2022.  She presently works at OSF St Francis Children’s Hospital as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the PICU.


The Perry Memorial Hospital Auxiliary was founded in 1948 and is committed to supporting Perry Memorial Hospital and its mission to provide compassionate, quality health services.  Thousands of dollars of medical equipment are purchased each year with proceeds from the Auxiliary Gift Shop and fundraising events.
