Otolaryngologist David Heichel, MD, with Superior Ear, Nose and Throat Specialists of Marquette, has begun seeing patients one week a month in Suite 206 of the OSF Medical Group in Escanaba.

Dr. Heichel earned a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from Grove City College in Pennsylvania and was then commissioned as an officer in the United States Air Force. After earning a Master of Science degree in electrical engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology at Wright Patterson Air Force Base (AFB) in Ohio, he served as a flight test engineer and taught at the United States Air Force Academy. He attended the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine to earn his Doctor of Medicine degree. Upon completion, he continued to serve in the Air Force, as a Medical Corps officer, completing a surgery internship and providing care as a flight surgeon and Chief of Flight Medicine for the 12th Medical Group Group at Randolph AFB, Texas. His next assignments were as a resident in otolaryngology, a staff otolaryngologist, and then as the vice chairman of the Otolaryngology Department, all at the 59th Medical Wing, Lackland AFB, Texas, before retiring from military service to enter private practice in the Upper Peninsula, since 2004.
