Recently, OSF HealthCare purchased the St. Bernadette School and convent buildings from the Archdiocese of Chicago.
OSF is not able to safely use the buildings because of their condition and age. Work will begin to demolish the school and convent in mid-December. Prior to the demolition of the structures, asbestos removal is taking place.
Statues currently in place around the school will be relocated to Queen of Martyr’s parish. While future plans for use of the property are being developed, the area will be landscaped and fenced.
We will do our best to limit the amount of noise or disruption to you throughout the duration of this project. Construction traffic will be routed to California Avenue, though it will be necessary for a limited amount to use 93rd Street and Francisco Avenue.
