The Sunflower Award recognizes non-nursing staff for being outstanding role models among a community of caregivers.

Siri Sholten, is a hospice volunteer in Dickinson County who was nominated by a patient’s family for her compassionate care. The nominator shared “Siri was scheduled as a volunteer visitor twice a week. Initially, we did not know what to expect, but her experience and caring went above and beyond being a visitor. She was well versed in patient care and did so much to engage with our mom, managing her declining abilities due to dementia and communicating with us about our concerns and needs. She supported us through our last hours with mom, celebrated her life and provided such valuable emotional support.”

If you would like to share a story about a provider, nurse, staff member or volunteer with OSF, we’d love to hear from you!  Please visit https://www.osfhealthcarefoundation.org/gratefulpatient/ to submit a nomination. While winners are selected each quarter, all feedback is recognized and shared with the respective nominees.
