Medicine has always been a calling for Suzanne.

“I felt the need to be part of something that mattered to others,” she said.

That had something to do with why she came to OSF HealthCare.

“I was impressed with the collective spirit of ‘Mission’ rather than ‘philosophy,’ with our patient’s needs coming first,” Suzanne said.

Born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Suzanne says the Monmouth community where she works has a great sense of community, with terrific shops and tremendous small-town pride.

She chose family medicine “because I love being part of making families healthy and happy – coaching parents to be confident, informed and protective of their children’s’ health and futures and helping children to reach their best potential.

“Every person who comes to me is precious and important and deserves to be healthy, pain free and productive,” she said. “My appointments vary in tone depending upon the needs of the patient. For some, it’s like a chat over coffee, a remembrance of past joys or losses that leads to the heart of their visit, or just time where they can let go and let me examine and counsel them.”

Suzanne is married to Don, a surgical physician assistant. Together they have five grown children, nine grandchildren and one four-legged princess named, Gracie. When she’s not working, she enjoys classic movies, knitting, writing letters to the grandchildren and long walks with Gracie.

A member of the women’s service group, Altrusa, Suzanne enjoys teaching reading to K-3 students for the AmericaReading Corps and teaching kindergarten religious classes.
