Dr. Osman Mahdi Babikir was born and raised in Sudan, Africa, and moved to the United States for his residency and fellowship programs.
Inspired by members of his family who are physicians, Dr. Mahdi Babikir set his goal of becoming a physician at a young age. “I’ve always wanted to be a physician to help patients alleviate their pain and suffering,” Dr. Mahdi Babikir said.
He enjoys working for OSF HealthCare because “of its commitment and continuous desire to help people in different communities throughout our health care network.”
Dr. Mahdi Babikir’s approach to care starts with understanding his patients. “I make sure to fully understand my patients by carefully listening to them and developing a good relationship based on trust and good communication,” he said.
“Every patient should leave the office satisfied that he or she was well taken care of and should feel as if he or she is the only patient in the office that day.”
He and his wife, who is also a physician, have four boys. Together, the family is very passionate about soccer and music.
