OSF Medical Group – Behavioral Health serves everyone in need, which is important to April.
“I want to help make a difference by providing care to as many people in need as possible,” she said. “My goal is to provide care that meets you where you are while encouraging you to strive toward living your life to its fullest potential.”
April knew from a young age she was meant to care for others.
“I enjoy talking to people and share a genuine interest in their life,” she said. “The knowledge and love of psychiatry came early in my nursing career when I began to see how mental health touches all areas of one’s life, both in illness as well as wellness.”
April decided to specialize in psychiatry about 10 years ago when she lost a close family friend to suicide.
“I felt the overwhelming need to do something to help those who struggle with suicidal ideation in hopes of preventing another avoidable death,” she said. “When it comes to working with the mind, I love the challenge of finding the right balance of treatments for individuals, many times leading to improvements one doubted every being possible.”
