Philosophy of Care I advocate for your health and well-being and work constantly to help you make the right decisions. Your health is ultimately your responsibility, but it will always remain my top priority.
Having a physician for a father was great motivation for Dr. Nelakanti in pursuing a career in medicine.
“I have always cherished human relation, and the pleasure of making a difference in someone else’s life is inexplicable,” she said. “Medicine was the right profession to realize these goals.”
Dr. Nelakanti decided to specialize in endocrinology because of the amount of in-depth knowledge of the pathophysiology of disease it requires.
“Endocrinology demands a great deal of lateral thinking, which gets me going each time,” she said. “Endocrine problems are so widespread, yet underdiagnosed, and not adequately treated. Restoring endocrine health goes a long way in ensuring great overall health, and thus bears a great impact on patients and the community at large.”
Dr. Nelakanti is married with two young children. When not working, she enjoys cooking, reading fiction and pursuing Indian classical music.
