Growing up in Finland, where her family lived next to a local library, Dr. Majahalme was a self-described “bookaholic.” Her hunger for knowledge provided the fuel of inspiration and determination to pursue her studies in medicine.
For Dr. Majahalme, the gathering and sharing of knowledge is key to good health care.
“I want to listen my patients and give guidance in decision making,” Dr. Majahalme said. “I want to provide the most accurate tools and tests to get to the core of their problems, whatever those are. An open, non-judgmental environment and timely service are also essential.”
Dr. Majahalme is married to a professor with a PhD in engineering and information technology. The couple are parents to a grown daughter and have a grandson.
In their spare time, the Majahalmes enjoy gardening, hiking, bird watching and taking in nature. They believe strongly in community spirit and are eager to help when needed, which is evident in the non-profit education foundation for disadvantaged girls Dr. Majahalme runs.
