When did you join Illinois Neurological Institute?
Born and raised north of Bradford, Illinois. where she and her husband lives in her father's homestead. She has been married for over 37 years. They have two wonderful and successful children. They are very blessed to have four beautiful grandchildren.
Landscaping, skiing, biking, enjoying life on the farm, and traveling most of all to see our grandchildren.
What medical change has impacted the field of neurology the most since you began practicing medicine?
Medical research has given us so many more options for treatment with surgical and medical/radiation oncology enabling our patients to have longer life expectancy. Some of the greatest changes have been in brain and spinal tumors.
Why did you choose neurosurgery?
I have had an interest in Spine for Orthopedic/Neurosurgery several years. The opportunity to work with Dr. Fassett and his specialty in complex spine was very appealing.
Why did you choose Peoria, Illinois, to practice when you could have gone anywhere in the country?
Peoria offers several opportunities for my expertise. The development of the INI into a comprehensive system has been very rewarding to be a part of.
Do you have any advice to give your patients?
Our patients who have undergone extensive back surgery often times become discouraged of the long recovery process. I encourage them by reinforcing where they have been in their recovery period and how far they have come. Most of all take one day at a time and soon you’ll reach your goal
