OSF PromptCare offers convenient care for minor illness and injuries for those times when your doctor is unavailable or if you do not have a doctor.
You may also have a lower co-pay for a PromptCare visit than an emergency room visit depending on your insurance coverage.
Some of the minor illnesses and injuries that can be treated at OSF PromptCare include:
- Animal bites or insect stings
- Asthma symptoms (minor)
- Bladder infection symptoms
- Burns (minor)
- Cuts requiring stitches
- Ear pain
- Foreign body removal (minor)
- Open and draining minor abscesses
- Puncture wound needing tetanus shot
- Sinus infection
- Skin rashes
- Sore throat
- Sports physicals

OSF PromptCare is not a replacement for your primary care doctor. After a visit with an OSF PromptCare doctor, you will be referred back to your primary care doctor for follow-up care as needed. If you do not have a doctor, you will be given a referral at the time of your visit
For more severe problems, such as chest pain, shortness of breath, abdominal pain or stroke symptoms, you should call 911 or seek treatment at the OSF Saint Anthony Emergency Department, which is open 24 hours a day to serve you.
