Pulmonary Rehabilitation

The Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program is an affiliate of OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center. This program is open to persons who suffer from chronic lung disease such as emphysema, chronic bronchitis and asthma.

The program is designed to teach patients about chronic lung disease as well as provide structured supervised exercise. The overall goals of this program are to assist the patient in managing his or her conditions, decrease symptoms, decrease hospitalization and improve their quality of life.

All of those participating in Phase II and III programs receive a comprehensive health and lifestyle evaluation. Individual goals are determined for each person. A dedicated team of respiratory therapists will assist and educate each patient through the program.

Rehabilitation Program

Phase I

  • We explain how our patients will benefit from their treatment plan and how to properly use medical equipment.
  • Breathing retraining.
  • Bronchial hygiene.
  • Proper use of medications.
  • The benefits of regular exercise.
