Behavioral Health

Woman with Depression Behavioral health care at OSF HealthCare is designed to provide adult patients (18 and older) with options to access the care they need, when they need it and in a way that suits them.

With services in Ottawa and Streator, our belief is that all persons deserve to be treated with compassion and respect.  Recovery is unique to each individual.

Our Team

As a patient, you may receive assistance from a number of caregivers including psychiatrists, counselors, social workers, therapists and nurses.

Your care team will offer a variety of services based upon your unique plan for treatment.

Our Resources

Behavioral Health Navigator

The Behavioral Health Navigator helps assess a patient’s need, connect them with services and follow up to make sure everything is going smoothly.

If a patient is struggling with things like housing or access to basic needs, the specialist links them to area resources.

To speak with a Behavioral Health Navigator, please call (833) 713-7100.

Embedded Therapist

A Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) is embedded as a therapist within the OSF HealthCare primary care setting in Ottawa and Streator.

The social worker assesses a patient’s needs and works with them right from their provider’s office.

If additional behavioral health services are deemed necessary, the social worker refers the patient on to the appropriate level of care.

Behavioral Health Outpatient Department

If therapy or medication needs are required for patient treatment, outpatient Behavioral Health services can help. Locations in Ottawa and Streator offer access to therapists and psychiatrists.

The Ottawa location also offers a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) for teens and adults. All patients see a therapist who will first evaluate their needs as part of their treatment plan.

TeleBehavioral Health

TeleBehavioral Health connects people with a psychiatrist using videoconferencing technology.

Patients can see the psychiatrist they are speaking with, and a team member is present to answer any questions and make sure things work smoothly.

Offered at both outpatient facilities, this service increases access to a psychiatrist by decreasing the wait time to see a provider.

SilverCloud is an online tool designed to provide patients with easy and immediate access to evidence-based, cognitive behavioral therapy programs.

The application offers supportive content for a range of mental and behavioral health issues such as depression, anxiety and stress.

SilverCloud can be utilized via handheld device, computer or laptop.

The application is made to work with and without the assistance of behavioral health supporters at OSF who can monitor progress, provide encouragement and deliver guidance catered to a patient’s personal situation.

Behavioral Health Inpatient Department

Inpatient care helps to stabilize individuals and prepare them for continued treatment in an outpatient setting.

Patients must be at least 18 years of age, be medically stable, and have been accepted by a psychiatrist for treatment.

Our secure, 22-bed psychiatric unit is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and is located on the hospital's third floor.
