Head and Neck Cancer
Head and neck cancers account for approximately three to five percent of all cancers in the United States. They are most common in men and in people over age 50.
At OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, we use a multidisciplinary team approach bringing together many different specialties: radiation and medical oncologists, otolaryngologists, speech pathologists, surgeons, dietitians, and counselors to discuss the best practice for our head and neck cancer patients. This approach provides an individualized treatment plan for our patients that supports better outcomes.
Your team will tailor your cancer treatment for your cancer and for you. Patients with the following cancers are eligible for participation with our Head & Neck Clinic:
- Mouth and tongue
- Salivary glands
- Nasal cavity
- Parts of the throat including the larynx (voice box) and pharynx
- Lymph nodes in the upper part of the neck
