Honor Walk

GOH_Logo_2Color_Registered.png In partnership with the Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network, OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center offers families of donor heroes the option of an Honor Walk.

Honor Walks provide opportunities for families and OSF Mission Partners to offer a moment of silence and reflect on the lives and generous gifts that organ and tissue donors provide. When it’s time to transport the donor to the operating room, a tribute is read and prayer is spoken at the donor’s room. Then, participating Mission Partners line the hallway as the donor is escorted by loved ones to the OR. After a moment of silence, the donor is taken to the OR and the Honor Walk ends. Gift of Hope staff and pastoral care stay with the family throughout the surgery.

The choice to participate in an Honor Walk is strictly voluntary.
