Breed Characteristics
The Shetland Sheepdog is loyal, willing and eager to please, making a wonderful companion dog - docile and alert with a pleasant temperament. Loving, loyal and affectionate with its family, this breed needs people. Very intelligent, lively and trainable, the Shetland Sheepdog is one of the smartest breeds. With intelligence comes the need to occupy their minds. They like to be kept busy. The herding instinct is still very strong in many of them. They love to chase things. Because of its beauty and kindness, the Sheltie has become a popular companion dog.

Fun Facts
Bailey has worked in hospice in patients’ homes, nursing homes, and now at the OSF Hospice Home. He loves what he does and is very committed to his duties. Bailey is very laid back, calm, cool and collected and loves children. When he goes to his own home after working at the OSF Hospice Home, he is so exhausted he literally collapses on the floor. His favorite pastime/hobby is chasing deer or wild geese in his backyard. Don’t worry; he has never caught one.

Oh and by the way, we do have a secret about Bailey…..Bailey does not realize he is a “dog,” so please do not say the “d” word around him!
