Brain Tumor Support Group

We we will not be holding a support group meeting in September, but will be attending the Mark Linder Walk for the Mind on Saturday, September 30, 2017.  This is a wonderufl event for brain tumor patients, family, and friends to support local brain tumor research.  For more information on this event, go to Mark Linder Walk for the Mind .

The next in-person support group will be on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 10:00 am in the conference room at the offices of OSF HealthCare Illinois Neurological Institute at 200 E Pennsylvania Avenue in Peoria.  We are happy to welcome a device support specialist with Novocure to present information on the Optune device that is used to treat high grade gliomas.  Many of our patients are utilizing this device and others have asked for more information.  This is an exciting technology and we are pleased that the representative is willing to present all of the details to us.  As always, we appreciate an RSVP so we can plan ahead regarding refreshments.  Let us know you are coming at meetfor themind@ini.org or by calling Cassie Richardson, brain tumor nurse navigator, at 309-624-4000 ext. 76503.

International Low Grade Glioma Registry - a new project with the American Brain Tumor Association that offers patients with a low grade glioma diagnosis the opportunity to participate in research.  The purpose of this registry is to discover why some people develop LGG while other people do not.  The goal is also to learn more about the effect of this diagnosis and the asosciated treatments on daily life including the ability to work, drive, sleep, exercise, or take care of oneself and/or family.
